My Approach To Speech Therapy

I value a total communication approach for my clients. Through a total communication approach, I have my clients use all modes of communication (i.e., verbalizations, sign language, AAC, etc.). My sessions, focuses on the clients needs that will best support them with their progress on their goals. I value building a connection with my clients so that they will know that I am there to support them.

What A Session Looks Like With Me

I begin my sessions with communicating with the caregivers to see how the week has been discussing any strengths or weaknesses they may have encountered. I prefer caregivers to be a part of the session so that they see how they can support their child when the session is over. Sessions can be a direct session with myself and the client or a session that involves me providing families support and strategies. I may provide activities for caregivers to do during the week until next session. My goal is for my clients and their caregivers, to feel comfortable by providing a comfortable environment but also making the sessions fun and engaging.
