Karianne Beltran
Karianne Beltran has been a speech-language pathologist for 10 years now. She started off by working with adults with aphasia, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s, dysphagia, etc. in the medical setting. She then transitioned to working with children and adults through teletherapy during COVID-19 and has really enjoyed working with her clients through this platform. It has been incredible to see the progress her clients have made, mainly due to them being in the comfort of their own home and parents/caregivers being able to learn and carry over skills to be generalized in their natural environment. Her specialty areas are working with children with articulation, phonological, language, auditory processing, and fluency disorders as well as in early language intervention.
My Approach To Speech Therapy
I emphasize a child-centered approach to care.
What A Session Looks Like With Me
My session always begins with rapport building with child and their caregiver/parent. I like to start off with a fun activity to increase interest and excitement for our sessions. Then, I will go into our lesson plan. I like to leave time to talk with parents to get updates and go over assigned home activities to increase generalizations of therapy goals in the home.
Fun Facts About Karianne
I love to sing! I use to sing with a choir and private events. Now, I like to sing with my students. I find singing is a great way to engage with my students and increase their language skills. I enjoy encouraging parents to make singing part of their routine with their child and seeing their communication flourish with this early language developmental technique.
