About

Elyse is a pediatric SLP passionate about helping kids communicate their way — through speech, play, gestures, and/or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She supports children with speech sound disorders, early language delays, social communication challenges, and autism spectrum disorder, always celebrating their unique strengths. Play is central to Elyse's therapy, and she loves partnering with families to make learning fun and meaningful. As a neurodiversity-affirming clinician, former teacher, and Air Force veteran, Elyse brings energy, creativity, and heart to every session. I live in Staunton, VA with my husband, 3 cats, and 2-year-old black lab. :-) On the weekends, you can find me bopping around downtown, reading in my hammock, or hiking to a scenic overlook in Shenandoah National Park - if there's a waterfall, even better!

My Approach To Speech Therapy

I take a child-led, play-based approach, making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. I believe in total communication, using speech, gestures, play, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to meet each child where they are. I’m neurodiversity-affirming and passionate about partnering with families, providing coaching and strategies so skills continue to grow at home. Every session is filled with energy, creativity, and celebration of progress, helping children build confidence, communication skills, and a love of learning.

What A Session Looks Like With Elyse

Each session is child-led, play-based, and tailored to your child’s needs. I use toys, games, and fun activities to make learning speech, language, and social skills exciting and meaningful. I believe parents and caregivers are key partners, so I include coaching and strategies throughout the session — empowering you to reinforce skills at home. Expect lots of energy, encouragement, and celebration of every success, big or small! My goal is to make therapy fun, supportive, and a place where your child can thrive, build confidence, and love communicating.

Fun Facts About Elys

Outside is my favorite place to be, especially in the Fall. I enjoy traveling! My biggest trip so far was to Machu Picchu in Peru. I love puzzles, watercoloring, reading, and anything creative. I have 2 brothers - one older and one 12 years younger. I believe play isn’t just for kids — it’s how we all learn best!
