My Approach To Therapy
I believe therapy should be a foundational part of my patients’ week to review their goals and implement strategies for my patients to meet those goals! My goal for therapy is to empower you with tools, resources, and skills so that you can graduate from speech therapy as quickly as possible! Throughout therapy, I believe in a neurodivergent-affirming approach to target my areas of specialty, where therapy honors that there are minds of all kinds and sometimes we have to get creative! We can learn strategies and build skills in a way that focuses on function first to support independence and self-advocacy!
What a Session Looks Like With Stephanie
My virtual sessions often start with a check-in and review of our last session’s homework! The home program is an integral part of therapy success, so if home activities didn’t go well, I like to spend some time problem-solving and planning a new strategy to keep my clients on track with their goals outside therapy! After our review, we target our goals using an evidence-based approach. This varies with each client: with my younger ones, we play lots of games while practicing sounds and language concepts, while with adults, sessions are often more conversational-based with structured activities. Sessions end with a wrap-up and home program activities provided to ensure you are set up to stay on track for progress!
